Christmas Themed Events
This weekend has plenty to offer if you are looking for Christmassy events. The first event that springs to mind is the Best Ever Children’s Christmas Party being held at the Mountbatten Centre, in aid of Headway Portsmouth and Southeast Hampshire and Wessex Cancer Trust on Saturday. This is a children’s Christmas party including a goody bag, boxed tea, bouncy castle, dance competition and stalls including a Hobbycraft Arts and Crafts stall. Follow the link above for details.
Also at the Mountbatten Centre, is Santa It’s a Knockout, open to spectators.
If you want to visit Santa you can visit the newly opened Grotto at Cascades. Check our website for the opening times – these aren’t even on Cascades website!
Portsmouth Cathedral is holding their Christmas Fair this Saturday with plenty of stalls, raffle, tombola, face painting and more. There is a Christmas table top sale on Sunday in Stamshaw, why not have a clear out and earn some extra cash before Christmas. You could also try the carboot on Sunday in the D Day carpark.
The Royal Navy Submarine Museum is joined by Artist Helen Scribbans this weekend for a crafts workshop making a range of Christmas items including an under the sea themed advent calendar. This is free (although usual entry fees apply) but requires booking – there were still places when I checked so you might be lucky if you phone ahead. This is a suitable activity for 4 – 10 year olds.
On Sunday Fareham plays host to Peppa Pig who will be appearing to celebrate the switching on of the Christmas lights. Also appearing is John Altman (Nasty Nick Cotton from Eastenders), who will be appearing in Jack and the Beanstalk this year.
Top Banana will be holding Circus Skills workshops again this weekend at the Guildhall and if you haven’t booked for this weekend, why not book for the next three workshops being held on the 30th November, 7th and 14th December 2013.
Sleeping Beauty starring Daniella Westbrook will be showing at Kings Theatre, and Jack and the Beanstalk is being offered by Ferneham Hall in Fareham. Groundlings Theatre will be showing Aladdin and you can see Mother Goose on Hayling Island.
If you fancy an ice spectacular then head to our very own ice rink at Planet Ice in Gosport for their Musical Magic show. Be quick though, at the time of writing tickets were going fast.
Don’t forget to keep checking Mumsnet Local Portsmouth for new listings – I’m adding new events daily. If you know of an event I haven’t listed, get in touch with me using the contact form below or email me Portsmouth@mumsnetlocal.com
Have a great weekend.
