Summer Reading Challenge 2014

PrintThis year’s Summer Reading Challenge launches on the 12th July 2014 and is open to children of all ages. The event will take place at all Portsmouth City Libraries throughout the school summer holiday. This year’s theme is ‘Mythical Maze’ and for each book your child reads, they can collect a sticker of a fantastical creature.

To complete the challenge each child must read 6 books on the theme, and collect their stickers, at which point they will be invited to a winners event where they can collect a certificate and medal.

The challenge isn’t just about books, there will also be lots of special activities and craft sessions on throughout the summer break. Check with your local library for details or keep checking the Mumsnet Portsmouth listings.

If you have a child aged between 12-19 who would like to get involved then they can become a Summer Reading Volunteer to assist children in their local library. To find out more about volunteering please contact Pat Garratt on patricia.garrett@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or telephone on 12392 688 066.
